Summer house Garden Design

Will a professionally designed garden add value to property?

A professionally landscaped garden will not only add to your enjoyment of your property but can also add to the value and saleability of your home if and when you decide to move.

A well designed garden can add up to 10- 15% to the value of your home. Equally a poorly presented garden can be a real turn off for prospective purchasers.

This is certainly the conclusion of the Home Insurance specialist Saga. A survey commissioned by the company revealed that 8 in 10 Britons were investing in their garden to increase the value of their home and in the same survey an overwhelming 82% of Britons say the garden is the most important feature when house-hunting.

According to Andrew Goodsell, Chief Executive of Saga, “Whether you`re improving the curb appeal of your house in preparation for sale or enhancing your living space purely for pleasure, this research shows that the impact a garden has on both property prices and emotional fulfilment can never be underestimated.”

So how much should you spend? This is down to your own budget and circumstances. However, devoting 10% of the value of your property is likely to prove a sound investment.

However, whatever the size of your budget you need to make sure your money is well spent. This is why it makes sense to use a small part of your budget on the services provided by a professional garden designer.

Garden design is all about shaping and organising space, understanding both what you want and need and also harmoniously linking the house to the garden and the wider environment. Don`t spend thousands of pounds and still not have your dream garden.

Samantha McKay Garden Design Services can help you achieve this. I can provide a range of services including an initial on site consultation, a site survey and analysis, detailed designs, planting plans and full specifications, setting out plans, construction details and lighting and irrigation plans, preparation of tender documents and on site monitoring of the operation. All my work is bespoke and designed to meet your individual requirements.
